Description
Patination Oil provides a protective coating against carbonate formation on the surface of lead sheet and flashings, which can discolour surrounding brickwork or tiles. When correctly applied, it gives an evenness of colour to lead while it’s natural patina develops and prevents unsightly white staining, from white carbonate.
Patination Oil is used on lead roofing, flashings and cladding to give a uniform, attractive appearance where the lead is visible. The oil includes compounds designed to remove light oxide staining to produce a clean metallic surface on application. It is also necessary when water flowing from the Lead Sheet surface may come into contact with other visible building materials. Patination Oil should be applied to newly installed Lead by the end of the working day so that carbonate does not have a chance to form.
